Dutch Bike Shop Update

Closing for annual holidays, but we will still answer emails.

This year, we’re closing for a 2 week break – closing at 1pm on Saturday, 29th August and will re-open on September 15th at 9am.

Usually we only close for 1 week, always the first week in September as this traditionally is the quietest time for our business. Largely due to the being the end of school holidays and parents and families are busy with everything school.

Please Email us during our holiday closure. Happy to answer any emails/questions you may have either on sales or service while our shop is closed. Customer service is at the heart of everything we do, and we like to keep in contact with you our valued customers. So, if you’ve any questions, we will answer them albeit it perhaps¬† a little slower replying than we usually do.

Availability of Dutch Bicycles

Thankfully, we continue to maintain stock of Dutch bikes, although the model choices available are now limited as pressure from Covid-19 continues to impact on the supply chain.

I don’t see this situation improving for remainder of this year and into Spring 2021. This year, for the first time in our 20 years of selling Dutch bikes, there is no new season planned by the brands we stock. Usually at this time of the year, we welcome into the new year’s collection of Dutch bicycles. But not this year, and certainly not for the forseeable future.

However, we do have substantial forward ordering in place with Batavus and Sparta and our website reflects the models/stock that’s currently available. Or, due to become available.

Stock when we receive it is usually small in numbers as many of our customers are forward-ordering their bicycles in advance. When the remaining stock does come available, it’s usually in low numbers. So, please if you want a Dutch bike, be prepared to forward order. It’s worth the wait.

Workshop - Bike repairs and servicing.

Although we’re a specialist Dutch bike shop, we repair all makes and types of bikes including ebikes.

At the time of writing (end of August) the next available slots for bike servicing are now early October. We can however, fit in smaller jobs, eg brakes, gear adjustments etc. But it will mean you leaving your bike with us and we’ll fit it in as soon as possible.

Please note – We’re unable to take workshop bookings by Email.

Test Rides

We regret that the forseeable future, we won’t be offering test rides on any of our Dutch bikes or ebikes.

If you’d like to visit the shop and see the bike you’re interested in purchasing, then we’d be delighted to show you the bike/s but ask that you contact us first to ensure the model you’re want to see is actually here in the shop. You’ll also need an appointment as our small shop is exceptionally busy at this time with service work as well as sales.

Thank you to all our lovely customers.

We’re fortunate to have a business when the vast majority of our valued customers are a pleasure to business with. Many we’ve got to know over the near 20 years we’ve been in the Dutch Bike business. Thanks to you all for keeping us working in the business we love surrounded by the most amazing quality Dutch bikes.

The Littlehampton Dutch Bike Shop is based in the lovely seaside town of Littlehampton, West Sussex. Many who come to our shop, stay overnight or for a few days and enjoy our lovely clean sea air and coastal walks. We’re often asked why Littlehampton? Because we love it here.

With every best wish from us all at the Dutch Bike Shop.
