Quirky and fun to ride – The Batavus Quip!
Proved very popular in 2016, so much so we and Batavus sold out of this quirky Dutch bike model very early in the season.
A 3 speed, hub geared bike with the benefit of a front and rear rack, individual frame number, steering lock when parked and quirky looks delivering a super comfy ride.
Two frame styles available – unisex and traditional gents with crossbar.
So how does the Batavus Quip ride?
Well, if you’re near us or willing to come and visit us at the Dutch Bike Shop in Littlehampton – enjoy a great day out at a traditional seaside town test riding Dutch bikes, then you can experience for yourself the fun and freedom that riding the Batavus Quip can bring. If not, then here’s an overview.
The first you notice when your ride a Batavus Quip is that it’s gives a really nice upright riding position. But not so bolt upright to make it a tad uncomfortable. The Quip riding position, in my view, get the balance spot on. The handlebars round up to meet you and are not straight as they are on some traditional Dutch Bikes. This means you can pull easier when you cycling uphill or against headwinds. The Quip gives a sort of beach cruiser ride, but without the feeling that you’re lying on your back.
Complete with 3 gears which are nice and neat in the hub and manufactured by Shimano. The lights are battery front and rear. Designed to fit to the front and rear rack and won’t be blocked or impaired by any cargo you wish to carry. Speaking of which, the Batavus Quip makes a nice tidy little cargo bike. Complete with a steering lock, which is designed to stop the front handlebars from rounding back on themselves when the bike is stationery and on its stand.
An alloy frame, but extremely strong – double oversized tubes on the step-over model and single bar on the ‘gent’s or step-over model.
Each model comes with its own unique frame number stamped into the frame – so you’ll always know which one is yours.
A frame lock by AXA is standard as it is on all Batavus Dutch bikes. You can upgrade these locks to include a cable/chain which plugs into the side of the frame lock thus allowing you to lock your bike to something solid and prevent it being lifted away.
All in all, a great nifty fun Dutch bike that certainly turns head and is a joy to ride.
