Welcome to the Trendy Section.

We've grouped these bicycles into the Trendy Section as we didn't really know what else to call them.

Essentially, the Blockbuster and Diva featured below are the modern version of the granny bicycle/Old Dutch bike. If you look at the design of the frame you'll recognise the same looped frame and features of the Old Dutch, however with a more modern feel.

The Blockbuster and Diva have proved very popular with our customers. The main benefit of these bikes is you get a super upright riding position, with a sort of chunky go-anywhere feel about the bike. They're easy to ride, comfortable, strong (lots of our customers use them for child carrying) and have got a nice feel about them. They make you feel better on a bad day sort of way. When everyone else is driving you potty, you can at least rely on Diva and Blockbuster to be there for you.

The crossbar version has proved a real hit with men who enjoy the features of a Dutch bike, but were a bit unsure about buying one.

Both models have extra-wide tyres, which mean you can take the rougher ground, for example, canal towpaths and so on.

Other than that the Blockbuster is available in matt black only and the Diva, which is exactly the same frame and gears as the Blockbuster is available in silver or a lilac and silver.

What's the difference between blockbuster and diva?

Except for the colour, no difference at all.

But Diva does have a floral pattern built into the mudguards.

The Mambo

The Mambo is super trendy, very different looking Dutch bike that comes with the benefit of 7 speeds. It's frame has a very unique shape to it. If you look at the picture below, you'll see that the rear frame comes back on itself and up and under the rear carrier giving an altogether different look to the bicycle.

When we first introduced Mambo to our showroom last year it proved very popular and sadly sold out by the middle of last year. it's now back again for 2008 and I think will be as popular as it was. This bike is very popular with artists, writers and also architects. Lots of people photograph this bike when it's parked outside the shop and it generates a lot of interest when we ride it.

I have a great deal of time for Mambo and I think if you're looking for something a bit alternative with a bit of a wow factor, then Mambo is worth looking at.

Ideal as a general run-around, commuting and touring bike.
