Variety of colours to choose from as indicated below.

A question we're always asked - is what's the main difference between Flash and Entrada - well, here goes!

Essentially both the Batavus Flash and the Batavus Entrada Dutch Bikes share the same frame. The Flash introduced by Batavus this year to offer an alternative to Entrada in terms of colour and also to include a cable lock as part of the package.

The main differences between Entrada and Flash in terms of specification are:

  • Flash is a more traditional looking bike created by having a traditional handlebar stem as opposed to the adjustable stem supplied with Entrada.
  • Flash has different headlamps to Entrada, however both models have the same front hub dynamo lighting.
  • Flash has an automatic rear light sensor which will come on once light fades (if you so wish).
  • Entrada comes with an underneath saddle bag
  • Flash comes with the benefit of an additional cable lock which fits in the side of the existing lock.
Ride wise - Most Customers tell us when they ride either bike that both deliver a similar ride and it very much appears to be down to personal taste as to which model you prefer. Having ridden both Entrada and Flash, I can honestly say I really like them both. I think on the looks front Flash probably has a more traditional Dutch Bike look than Batavus Entrada, but that's only my opinion. Both bikes have subtle differences, I can pretty much guarantee that whichever model you opt for you won't be disappointed. Each bikes rides very well, rolling along and chumping up miles as you enjoy the view.

Some pictures below show the two bikes riding on a recent trip along Saltern's Way in Chichester.

Flash Gents pictured above at Birdham Pool. The price of £499 includes the cable lock chain which fits into the side of the existing Axa Defender rear lock.

Entrada Spirit, pictured above.

Entrada Handlebar stem differs to Flash in that you can move the handlebars forward to change ride position by way of an allen key. You can see the allen key point in the above picture.

Front view of Entrada's handlebar system. As you can see at the time of this picture the bike is traveling along the grass track that forms part of Saltern's Way. Interestingly, a sort of honeycomb plastic matting is laid on the grass to make it easier to ride along.

Above you can see Flash has the traditional stem and thus gives it a more traditional Dutch look and feel. The pannier pictured above is a side pannier by Vaude, which we stock in our shop. Ideal for taking on commutes, tours and so on, these panniers (which come as a pair) are completely waterproof.

Flash and Entrada pictured together in Chichester.

Flash and Entrada ride well along the type of cycle paths pictured above. The above track forms part of Salern's Way, Chichester where the surface is little more than a dirt track through a field. No problem to Flash or Entrada or indeed any of Batavus's quality bicycles where the quality of the rims are crucial to the bike's performance ability. Ride along the above track on a Batavus Flash or Entrada and you won't feel the bumps and vibration that you would normally find when riding on these surfaces. That's where quality comes in!

Flash delivers a nice upright ride and you get to smile while riding....! (Why do so many cyclists look so miserable these days? Could it be they're poured optimistically into shedloads of lyrcra as opposed to getting out there and enjoying the bike ride?)

comfy riding with no strain.

Riding towards Itchenor and our favourite pub, which overlooks the harbour.

View from the beer garden at the pub at Itchenor. This is a great place to stop, have a break, enjoy some excellent pub food and a nice cooling pint of your favourite high energy drink.
