We believe there is no better way to discover some of the many hidden gems that the West Sussex Coast and Countryside has to offer than bicycle.

Whether you just want a couple of days gentle cycling along Coastal paths, or something a little more intense, we're confident that we have a package to suit you requirements.

Our Cycle Holidays are run from our Littlehampton Location, as this is the gateway to our current Tour Programme.

  • Easy Cycling Holiday - All our Cycle Tour Routes are flat and the objective is on comfort and fun without the hard slog. The most miles you could expect to do in a day is 20 miles. You're free of course to increase on this mileage if you so wish, and we'll be happy to include in your package additional recommended routes to allow to achieve greater distances.

  • One-location accommodation. As these are short cycling breaks, you stay in the same overnight accommodation throughout your holiday so you've no packing up and checking out to do each day. It also means that we can avail of better rates for you, and accommodate you on weekend breaks, as many of our accommodation providers insist you a minimum of 2 nights stay especially at weekends.

OPTION 1 - 3 Day Coast & Castle Tour

Accommodation - B&Bs.

A 3 Day Cycle Tour which allows you to explore superb Arundel Castle and Chichester Harbour, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

ITINERY

DAY 1 - 10am - Meet at our Littlehampton Shop

Tea/Coffee served during a pre-tour briefing - bike demonstration and equipment demonstration.

We'll help you load your bicycle panniers (or your cycle trailer, if you opt for one) and you're ready for the off.

For those choosing B&B Accommodation - you'll be directed to your first night's accommodation, which will be located nearby our Hire base in Littlehampton and after you've settled in, enjoy your first day cycling to Arundel.

DAY 2

After breakfast, your route will take you to Chichester Harbour where you can explore the Saltern's Way - 12miles of mostly off-road coastal cycling. Lots of pretty harbours for you to visit, where you can sit and watch the boats sail by, or even take a boat trip yourself.

(we've built in a super-softie cycle day by including an optional train journey to Chichester and back, for those who don't want to cycle out to the harbour.) It might be that you want to cycle out there, and explore, and cycle back, or combine this with the short 20 minute train journey. Your route plan will include details of both cycle-only routes, and cycle & train routes)

DAY 3

After Breakfast, you're free to take up a number of our suggested local cycle routes in the Littlehampton/Arundel area. Or, meander done a lovely back road to a lovely beach where you can swim, walk, or sunbathe or just enjoy the scenery.

Return to our Hire Location by 6pm.

Options - A variation of this tour is to overnight in B&B Accommodation in Chichester Harbour. Your Itinery will vary slightly - DAY 1 - after briefing etc, you're free to enjoy the wonderful cycle to Chichester (or take the train - 20 minutes!) and then amble along to your quality B&B. A slightly varied tour, you miss out Arundel, but get to cycle more around Chichester. You need to tell us at the time of booking, where you'd like to be based.

What's not included:

  • train fares if you want to avail of the train and cycle option. Off-peak travel from Littlehampton to Chichester is roughly £4 return per person.

OPTION 2 - 3 Day Coast and Castle Tour

ITINERY

2 Options - (Littlehampton based - Chichester harbour based)

1. CYCLE TOURING OPTION

DAY 1

10am Start at our Littlehampton Hire Centre.

Tea/coffee briefing on routes and equipment.

We'll show you how to erect your tent indoors in our hire centre, and also take you through some cycle camping tips to help you get the best out of your holiday.

Then you're off to follow our Route to your Campsite base in Chichester Harbour. Distance, approx 22 miles. Journey on mostly quiet roads, then you the Salterns Way Route for the final part of your journey to your campsite.

Set up your tent, and you're free to explore the very pretty area known as West Head.

There's a pub and restaurant for you to choose from, and also you're only a 1.5 mile cycle ride into another town with more places to choose from.

DAY 2

Follow our route guide along the Saltern's Way and into Chichester where you can explore the many interesting shops, Cathedral and then back again along the coastal path to East Head.

Alternatively (if shopping/city visit is not your thing)

On route, you can stop off at number of pretty harbours where you get some great pub food overlooking the harbour, and take a boat trip if you wish. You can also get a ferry across the harbour and explore Bosham Hoe, which really is pretty. The ferryman usually has no objection to taking bikes across and back.

Watch the sun going down on Chichester Harbour and meander back to your campsite for overnight stay.

DAY 3

Time to break down camp and pack up and head for Littlehampton.

A number of options are available on return routes. If you wish, you can also take the train back from Chichester, or, of course cycle!

2. CYCLE CAMP BASE OPTION

This option's Itinery is as per the B&B Option, however, instead you're based in a local campsite close to Littlehampton, Arundel and at the gateway to the Chichester harbour route.

We've chosen this campsite as its in a very pretty area running alongside a river with green fields and a very nice traditional pub on site with a good reasonably priced menu and great ales and beers. All you have to do is meander your way a short distance back to your tent.

PRICE - £110 per person (Based on two people sharing) -

  • Use of a quality Batavus Dutch bike (option here for a Batavus mountain bike - but you must pull a cycle trailer - additional £20 per person)
  • 2 Person quality, lightweight tent
  • Detailed Route Guides - carefully chosen to give you the most traffic free routes available.
  • Briefing notes - to accompany your Route Guide to help you get the most out of our holiday
  • Back up and support from us during your holiday should you have any problems
  • A unique opportunity to ride a quality Batavus Dutch bike
  • 15% off the cost of any new Batavus Dutch bike brought from us, if you buy your new Batavus within 14 days of returning from your cycle holiday. 

What's not included:

  • Campsite fees - typically £20 per night
  • Sleeping bags - you need to bring your own
  • Cooking equipment/cutlery etc

OPTIONAL EXTRAS

Luxury Camping Option

On the Campbase package only - we can offer you a 'go large package' which includes a 4 person tent with room enough for you to stand up in, also a carpeted lounge area, 2 bedrooms and we'll provide 2 seats and a table for you - and as this is all too much to carry on a bike, we'll set it all up for you, and also, take it all down for you at the end of your holiday.

Cost £150 per person.

With this option, we meet you at your campsite, where your tent and bikes will be waiting for you and we'll go through the briefing with you there. Starts at 12.00pm on Day 1, as opposed to 10am on the other packages.

Chichester Habour and area of outstanding natural beauty

Explore Coastal paths and tracks, enjoy traditional pub lunches and just relax at a slower pace.

Travelling by bicycle opens up a whole new world

Itchenor Harbour - from here you can take the ferry across to Bosham Hoe, or just sit and soak up the wonderful atmosphere.

We carefully chosen our routes to make them as easy and traffic free as is possible in the UK. We've ridden them ourselves extensively, and our route guide is prepared to give you as much information as possible. Where on occasions, the roads become busier, or when approaching more difficult junctions, your route guide will let you know in advance. And, we'll keep you away from the more busy/dangerous roads.

We'll provide you with a wonderful Batavus Dutch Bicycle (or a Batavus mountain bike, if you wish) for your holiday.

Our Cycle Tour/Holiday Fleet

You really do get to ride the best of the best Dutch bicycles.

Choose a Cycling Holiday with us and you'll get to ride an all new this season 2010 Batavus Crescendo (rrp £799). This is a super-comfortable Dutch bike by Batavus with every possible luxury - from a suspension seat post, front suspension and gel sprung saddle with the famous Batavus easy-instant adjust handlebar system which allows you to change your riding position at the pull of a lever.

Alternatively, for those wanting a good all-round ATB bike - we offer the Batavus Raid, a 24 Speed ATB bike from Batavus. With this option, you won't be able to use panniers, as the bike doesn't have racks, but we'll supply you with a cycle trailer for all your gear.

You can also choose BUB! The Award winning 3 new bike model from Batavus.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Payment in full at the time of booking.
  2. You need to ensure that you have adequate travel insurance/personal accident insurance to cover your holiday.
  3. If the event of a cancellation, we do not offer a refund, however, at our discretion we may offer you an alternative date for your holiday, subject to availability.
  4. The bikes remain our property, as does the tent, cycle trailer or any other additional equipment you book for your holiday - and we'd really like it back, preferably in the same condition as we gave it to you. We reserve the right to charge for any damage.
  5. Damage Deposit will be required, which you'll be asked to pay on DAY 1 - this deposit will be pre-authorised from you credit/debit card, so you don't physically pay any money. £200 per couple.
  6. Our aim is that you should enjoy yourself and we will do everything that could be reasonalby expected of us, to achieve this end.
